AllChic is a fashion blog featuring indie designers, vintage fashion, street style from around the world, and design contests.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
AllChic is my third website but my first blog. I find blogging a great creative outlet.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first site was PreKSmarties.com - I sold it in 2000.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I found AllChic.com through a search of expired domain name listings.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I'd like to think the clean presentation, great photos, and interesting and informative posts.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to generate enough traffic to see an increase in advertising income from Google Adsense and affiliate programs.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The jury's still out on that one....
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I'd add an application for selling/swapping vintage clothing.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Certainly. I'd love to have an explosion in my readership.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
No expenses so far except for the domain name and hosting.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning SEO tricks.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Networking with the readers and other fashion bloggers by commenting and crossposting, as well as placement on Yahoo and Google.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It hasn't. I had a pretty clear idea of what it would involve.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I've only had this site for six months, but I have no plans for disbanding it.
