Please give us a short summary of your website?

Sunco is the nation's largest distributor of Wolff tanning beds. Wolff has proven to be a cost effective, quality solution whether you are interested in a tanning bed for you home, or multiple, larger tanning beds for a salon. Our website displays the beds we offer as well as parts, accessories and lotions. If you already own a tanning bed or salon, lotions can be purchased online at discount prices.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The website was launched after we employed a graphics designer / webmaster who was capable of taking us to the next level.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Our first website was launched in 2002 and had the domain, www.youtan.com.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Our newly hired graphics designer / webmaster suggested www.suncotanning.com which better represented the name of our company and what we were about.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Sunco has been doing the same thing for well over twenty years and we feel that experience helps to better serve our customers' needs.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Probably pay per click advertising. It has been expensive but we can't argue with the resulting sales we've had. Our webmaster handles our pay per click advertising, designs our printed catalogs and does some search engine optimization (when we're not asking him to work with our computers and network - before we didn't even have email addresses). These things have proven to be invaluable for our website. It is rare to find someone with such a valuable skill set.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

In the beginning, we had no idea how much a correctly executed website could really help our business.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We've had our new website since 2003 and have no intention of discontinuing it. If it wasn't profitable, we wouldn't bother with it.
