Name of your website?Beauty Marx
Your name?
Suzy Courcy
Your Location (city, etc)
Port Saint Lucie, FL
What are the contents of your website?
My website provides the basic information that all of my clients first ask me when they call for their free consultaions. What my prices are, hours of operation, my credentials, etc.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
i feel that the internet is the best form of advertising.
When did you first open your business? And what services do you provide?
I Opened my business in Port Saint Lucie, FL in 2004. in just under 3 years the business has grown faster that I had expected. I am very fortunate to have developed close professional and personal relationships with each and every one of my clients and because of that they refer their friends and family to me often. Along with the internet, word of mouth and business reputaion is very important.
How did you decide on a name for your company?
When I first opened I originally named the business Belle Image. Belle meaning beautiful in french. I later noticed that there were a few other laser hair removal places that were opening up with "Image" in the business name... for example Ideal Image and Smoothe Image. people were getting us confused so I changed my business name to Beauty Marx. Although it doesn't relate to hair removal too much it does work because I specialize in Permanent Makeup which is an enhancement to ones own natural features. It works!
What makes company different from others?
I may upset some of my collegues by saying this but the truth is Im highly qualified at what I specialize in. I recieved my training from one of the best schools in the nation and excede the requirements for Florida State Board licensure. My facility is also regulated under a medical physician which I have come to find out that a lot of other permanent makeup specialists in my area are operating without one which is illegal in the state of Florida. My prices are also very reasonable. I personally check out my competition on a regular basis to make sure my rates stay a little ower than everyone elses.
What is your eventual goal?
I feel that I have already met my goal of opening a successful Permanent Makeup and Electrolysis facilit. Eventually I would like to branch out and open other facilitis in different locations so I can target a broader range of clientelle. I have quite a few clients who travel a great distance for our services.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Honestly, I am pretty much married to my business! I invest alot of my time at work and I absolutely love every minute of it. My clients are wonderful and although I dont have the time and freedom that I used to have working a regular 9 to 5 job I wouldn't change a thing. I don't do it to get rich off anyone, I truley love what I do.
If you had an unlimited budget for development, how would you change your business?
As stated before I would open one or two more locations. I would also consider opening an Electrolysis Training facility in this area.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I have come across many unexpected situations! Being a business owner was new to me so I just learned as I went. I still do! But I just roll with it and not let the little things stree me out.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge was probably my first year that I opened. Port Saint Lucie was known, at the time, to be the biggest realeast boom in the US so I figured it was a great place to start a business. Well, the city grew too quickly and the economy quickly went down. It was difficult for be to built a clientelle because people were understandably more concerned with their taxes and other unexpected finacial matters than to come in for cosmetic services. It was tough.
What method has been most successful for promoting your business?
#1. Word of mouth. #2. Internet
How has running your business differed from your expectations?
Like I said, the first year was a struggle and I honestly questioned if i had made the right choice. But now the business is strong and so I guess that was a good unexpected turn of events!
How long will you continue to keep your website up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Who wouldn't enjoy any of that!??! I plan to keep my website up for as long as the business is open.
