Name of your website? One Man Brand - Tees for Freaks!
Your name?
Paul Baines
Your Location (city, etc)
London
When did you start your website and why?
I started One Man Brand very recently, I was inspired, or perhaps the opposite is true, by the experiences of friends seeking something sassier, humourous, yet classically retro in styling, when it cam to t-shirts. Thus the website was conceived and some of the most shocking tees on the web are now available to the public.
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
Truly it is a labour of love, art before profit. I currently use Cafepress for the printing and distribution. However should the site take off, I will be seeking a business partner to take the operation to a higher level.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
It's the most enjoyable part as well as the most difficult. I've set myself an enormous challenge of creating 100 new and unique retro t-shirt designs by the end of the year. It's a tall order, but I do believe with a collection of that size, the interest from the public will grow far more rapidly.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
Designing the website and maintaining it via good old Wordpress.
What was your biggest mistake?
I'm used to working with web graphics, so forgetting to upscale the dpi resolution meant some very tiny early designs which I've since ammended. Print means big, very very big.
Who maintains your website and why?
I do, to keep the public updated and to sell shirts!!?!?
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
Well it is my business so far, so will tell you in a few months time of the results, just read my blog!
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
I would love to be able to work with a worldwide network of local independent t-shirt printers to alleviate carbon cost, and to keep local community economies vibrant. In my position, the best I can do right now is keep recycling.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
I wish I knew how!
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
I get most attention from forums and blogs.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
See above.
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
Paying for links.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
Smarten the search engines to notice quality content over inbound links or seo trickery.

What else do I do? Well, my t-shirt design site is supporting my music website at One Man Band. I hope to record my first independent album towards the end of the year. Yep I'm a busy man.
