Fuzzy Fibers brings you cool t-shirts from all over the world. Interview

By Interviewer at 04/12/09 15:46

Name of your website?

Fuzzy Fibers brings you cool t-shirts from all over the world.

Your name?

Jessica Landon

Your Location (city, etc)

San Fransisco

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The Fuzzy Fibers founders travel the world to bring you new and cool T-shirts from all over. We mostly have local shirts and ship our goods all over the world. Please take a look at the site or contact us for more information!

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have been travelling the globe for many years now and every time I came back home people asked me about my new shirts. Not long ago I just felt I needed to do more with this and give people a chance to wear what normally is so far away from them.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website :). I launched it about a year ago but because of a lack of time and many changes it did not become active until recently.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I had a brainstorming session with some of my friends. I don't really know why we got to this but we all liked it!

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I think the model of the website is not the most unique although we did put a lot of time in the functional design. I haven't seen any other website that works exactly the same. What makes it unique is the product we are providing. We sell shirts that are generally unknown to the public in the western world. Almost all locally made, with local designs.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I am not sure if I really have an ultimate goal. I am happy with the way it is and would like to keep it for income.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far, I must say, I haven't generated a lot of profit yet. A lot of time has gone into the planning and building of the website, as well as stock management etc.. I hope it will all pay-off in the end.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I finally have it the way I want, haha. At this moment I would not change anything. Maybe in the future I would like to make the site more dynamic. How? I don't really know..

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

That would be no problem. I have good contact with all our suppliers and am actually waiting to order more and put more products on the site. At this moment I don't want to overdo it and first see the site take off.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

The building of the site took much more time and work than expected. Along the way the concept changed a bit and that also caused some delay.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge so far has been to get all of the suppliers on board. They are mostly from different countries with different cultures and customs so that was quite a struggle. Happy it came through though

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

We started with a decent SEO structure for the site and I am now looking for sites to exchange links with. Within a couple of weeks we will start with the google ads program.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

As mentioned before just getting the site to run and be ready was quite a struggle.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have been running for a bit over a year now. If I won't enjoy big gains in income or traffic I guess I will have to start changing things about the site or the way I promote it. The site itself doesnt cost much now, and considering the work I have put in I can't really see a reason to give up..

Would you enjoy being listed in this directory?

YES! I would be great, and a great step towards greatness!

What is your website address?

Fuzzy Fibers brings you cool t-shirts from all over the world.
