What inspired you to launch your own website?
I worked with weight loss patients for many years. Many of whom lost more than 100 pounds. The large weight loss left a large amount of extra skin on their body. The removal of the large amount of extra skin is considered an elective surgery procedure. The weight loss patients now had their health under control, but now needed to fix their general appearence. The cost of elective surgery in the USA is very, very expensive. I found a less expensive alternative.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was a loan/finance company. The experience from my finance backround is now helping me to help our patients secure financing for the surgery.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Global Medical Service We offer medical services, globally!
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Customer service is at the root of everything we do. We also live by our philosophy " saftey over convenience".
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We are currently working on an E-Book that will help our patients with all the initial information that anyone would need when making a decision to have elective surgery.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It's important to balance your time effectively. I believe very strongly that "the customer is always right. It's important to realize that money is not always the primary focus. A perfect example is "always issue a refund, especially if a service was not rendered". This builds customer confidence. We all know that customer confidence brings referrals and referrals brings back the money.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
With an unlimited budget, I would make arrangements to secure additional procedures like Heart Bypass and Joint Replacement. These procedures are critical and very expensive in the USA. I would make them available to the masses at a cost that is affordable.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Our site and Company is already growing fast. We are expanding and adding personnel as needed.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Any new business will deal with a number of headaches. We found that the price of air travel was starting to rise. We are glad that the prices have leveled to a comfortable level.
What has been your biggest challenge?
When ever you commit to something that you enjoy doing, you have to balance your time at work with your time at home. I am trying very hard to always keep my family in the front of my mind and not take for granted that they are waiting at home for me.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Simply put... Word of mouth and testimonials
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
So far, the experience is very close to what I expected.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have not run the site for very long, it was run by another fellow, whom fell ill and I was offered the opportunity. I see a very bright furture for the site and the Company. Hard work, customer service and good business skills and safe practices will keep up the gains and of course... satisfied patients!
