Jacqueline Parker Makeup Artistry Interview

By Interviewer at 06/17/07 23:24
Victoria, any: Before and After
Name of your website?

Jacqueline Parker Makeup Artistry

Your name?

Jacqueline Parker

Your Location (city, etc)

Upwey

When did you start your website and why?

My website is a relatively new business tool I designed to increase the exposure my work receives and guarantees more people will be able to experience a quality Makeup Artistry experience!

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

My website outlines all facets of my Makeup Artistry business including which services I offer, a gallery of recent works and before & after photos, pricing and also some helpful tips to keep you looking good!

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

I think the whole experience is a learning experience - the more time I spend developing my site the more information I come accross. I haven't found any part difficult as yet; more so it has been an enjoyable experience.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

Filling out this questionaire!!

What was your biggest mistake?

I am thinking that perhaps I should have bought a .com.au domain. But that can be changed down the track.

Who maintains your website and why?

I regularly update my website and add any new information or photographs of my recent works as they come.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

It is great to be able to say to potential Clients "Here is my web address. You can see some examples of my work online". Or, "My pricelist is on my website for your information." People are more likely to choose me for their Makeup Artist when they can see for themselves that I am competent at what I do. It is a way that people can have a detailed description of my business right in front of them at anytime. It is much better than a brochure!

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I think that the internet is a very powerful tool. The opportunities are just endless. I really do believe that ecommerce will be a tool we all use long into the future.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

There has to be some sort of criteria for the way in which websites are listed. Although at times it can be frustrating for the operators of these websites, I think that it is only fair that search engines execute a method of choosing which sites they feel as most appropriate to the viewers.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

At this stage I am quite happy with my page's ranking, and I think that with time as I expand my website and obtain more and more links to my site that this ranking can only improve.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I am still in the early days so I am in the process of trying many different ways of getting my site out there. I think that adding my website address to every pamphlet, flyer, email and business card that I have has help greatly to expose my site.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

I don't see any method as not be successful at this point in time.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

This is something I hadn't really thought about before. I think that for all my intents and purposes the internet suits me fine as it is. There are so many wonderful tools available now and it really does open up an infinate amount of possibility.

How did you discover our website?

I did a search through Google and a link to your site was returned.

One Man Brand - Tees for Freaks! Interview

By Interviewer at 06/07/07 20:42
Name of your website?

One Man Brand - Tees for Freaks!

Your name?

Paul Baines

Your Location (city, etc)

London

When did you start your website and why?

I started One Man Brand very recently, I was inspired, or perhaps the opposite is true, by the experiences of friends seeking something sassier, humourous, yet classically retro in styling, when it cam to t-shirts. Thus the website was conceived and some of the most shocking tees on the web are now available to the public.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

Truly it is a labour of love, art before profit. I currently use Cafepress for the printing and distribution. However should the site take off, I will be seeking a business partner to take the operation to a higher level.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

It's the most enjoyable part as well as the most difficult. I've set myself an enormous challenge of creating 100 new and unique retro t-shirt designs by the end of the year. It's a tall order, but I do believe with a collection of that size, the interest from the public will grow far more rapidly.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

Designing the website and maintaining it via good old Wordpress.

What was your biggest mistake?

I'm used to working with web graphics, so forgetting to upscale the dpi resolution meant some very tiny early designs which I've since ammended. Print means big, very very big.

Who maintains your website and why?

I do, to keep the public updated and to sell shirts!!?!?

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

Well it is my business so far, so will tell you in a few months time of the results, just read my blog!

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I would love to be able to work with a worldwide network of local independent t-shirt printers to alleviate carbon cost, and to keep local community economies vibrant. In my position, the best I can do right now is keep recycling.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

I wish I knew how!

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

I get most attention from forums and blogs.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

See above.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Paying for links.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Smarten the search engines to notice quality content over inbound links or seo trickery.

You can enter a question of your choice and the answer here:

What else do I do? Well, my t-shirt design site is supporting my music website at One Man Band. I hope to record my first independent album towards the end of the year. Yep I'm a busy man.

What is your website address?

One Man Brand - Tees for Freaks!
