In our modern world, vanity is now more of a tech thing.I think it's more appropriate to say that we are living in the Photosop era. Most magazines nowadays do a little retouching before publishing ad photos, using their preferred image editor, most famous of them all of course is Photosop Adobe.
But a recent image editing made for a Ralph Lauren advertisement caused a furor in the fashion and health world with model Flippa Hamilton appearing very thin due to a poor editing. An advertisement for their Blue Label denim went on to become one of the most controversial photo editing disasters in the fashion history.
The issue first broke at a site called Photoshop Disasters. It was then headlined at the blogsite Boing Boing. The post became an instant hit to readers and picked up Ralph Lauren's attention and threatened the site for a lawsuit for property infringement by illegal copyrighting.
But after sometime pondering on what had gone wrong, and instead of defending their obvious mistake, Ralph Lauren has finally accepted their fault. They accepted the reality that their staff needed a better and sharper photoshop lesson.
'For over 42 years, we have built a brand based on quality and integrity.
'After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman's body.
'We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the calibre of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.'
