Please give us a short summary of your website?
Our designer handbags are individually handmade and signed originals. We love what we do so each bag is creatively designed, hand painted, accessorised and constructed with the finest materials available.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We wanted to make our Teri Monique designer handbags available to customers throughout the islands of The Bahamas (we have 29 inhabited islands) and the world, without them having to come to our physical studio to shop. This way shopping is available 24 hrs. daily.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I decided to name the website after our handbag line which incidently was named after me. Using the product name makes it easier for customers to find when they are searching for us.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Each of our handbags are unique...like our clients. We do not create more than one of the same. Each bag is a hand painted original work of art...a signed collectible.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It's an ongoing process. We have invested both time and money into this venture and are happy with the steady progress we are making.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
My initial thoughts would be to make the site as user friendly, informative and easy to digest as possible. However because I am not a marketing specialist I would retain the service of a company that specialises in e-marketing/design & development solutions to guide me in that vein.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
We are working to ensure that our foundation is secure so that as our business grows we are able to manage its growth without compromising our product and service.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Our greatest challenge was initially in production. We were previously outsourcing our work to various international manufacturers; which sometimes caused delays and unscheduled changes in our designs. We are presently manufacturing our products locally in an effort to better supervise production.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth from satisfied customers.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Our site has been up for several years. Our goal is to enjoy the traffic and benefit from the income and poplarity. As the product popularity grows, we grow; as we grow we are stirred to take our wonderful handbags to an even higher level.
Why are your customers attracted to your product?
Our customers love the idea of having a one-of-a-kind designer handbag. They know they will never see their handbag duplicated on someone else's arm. We are often told how special our Teri Monique handbags make them feel. Many customers who were former name brand handbag addicts have made the switch to Teri Monique originals. One customer is quoted saying, "Teri Monique handbags are like American Express, you don't want to leave home without it!"
