my website is about latest trends in pakistani fashion .it has exclusive designerwear dresses.bridalwear,formalwear,casuals.from kameez shalwar to trousers,churidars and shararas and ghararaas.beautifully tailored clothes for everyday wear.to make a woman stand out in the crowd.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
lack of availability of designer pakistani dresses in houston.usa.most of the websites and boutiques carry indianwear.or very few which do carry pakistani clothes are not upto the mark.our line of clothes are made from the finest materials available in pakistan.we use the best tailors we have and we also make custom made dresses for our cleints.we also have a boutique where people can visit us after taking appointments.we are open 7 days a week.and we gladly accomodate all their fashion needs.we even advice them about what would look good on them.its all about personalized attention.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
this is my website.we launched it 2 months ago in november2007.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
its all about traditions.i think kameez shalwar and lehngas and churidars,they all are traditional heritage and thats what we deal in so rivaj was the perfect bet.and as i am the designer so its called rivaj by hina.traditions by hina.couldnt think of a better name ::)
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
originality.all the outfits which are on my website are originals,they all are my own designs unlike these other hundreds of pakistani clothes website which are selling copies of other designers collections.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
fashion is my passion.it gies me immense happiness when my cleints wear my outfits and come back and tell me about how much praise they got from other people.and then they come back and buy more clothes.it gives them so much confidence you wont beleive and that makes me really happy and this is my true success i would say,to make someones day is something you cant do it even with loads of money.its priceless
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
i have just started this business on a large scale only a few months ago.before that i had been doing it on a small scale for my selected clientale and so far i am only investing so i am still not sure about the outcome.its too early to say anything.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
well,probably i will put more money in the marketing and try to improve my website.which is actually not bad as it is but i would spend money in marketing for sure.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
yes.i am ready for it.sky is the limit ;)
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
pakistani situation.sometimes i really get worried about my orders getting here on time because of the current situation in pakistan.thats my biggest worry these days.to get the work done on time and to get the deliveries on time.
What has been your biggest challenge?
working from home with 2 kids making demands all the time the little one is only 7 months old.heheh.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
internet.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
to be honest i thibk i had much higher expectations and they havenot been met as yet.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
2 months and i want to continue working for a long time now inshAllah.i am here to stay :)
being a housewife,is it hard to do 2 things at a time?does your husband support you?
well yes you know if you are working from home its very different from going to the office.once you go out you dont have to take care of the house but when u r working from home you have to multitask.its harder than working from an office outside your house.and i dont think i would have been able to do it without my husband,Adnans support.no matter where we live but we still have our traditions and cultures with us where a woman cant really get sucessfull without her husbands support.a happy woman is a happy worker if she is not happy and satisfied from home i dont think she can give a hundred percent to her work and thank God my husband has been really supportive of all this otherwise to ber honest i wouldnt have thought about going this big with 2 kids.thankyou Allah,thankyou Adnan thankyou mom,dad,munza and my 2 lil ones ahmed and yousuf.and to all those people who buy clothes from me reguarly.without all of you i wouldnt have been here writing all this today:)have a great day and take good care of yourself :)
